Happy New Year, 2025!

Excellence is not CASUAL

The word Casual means hasty, marked by blithe unconcern, without seeming plan or method.

I find it interesting whenever I am invited to address a cohort of fresh graduate recruits within the Orientation program of a large organisation or the induction into a Professional body.

You can see almost immediately those who will rise to the top from the crop within their career life cycle barring any unfortunate disruptive incident.
Greatness emerges through character and dedication . It speaks in their punctuality to the program, attention to detail and their curiosity. They are not CASUAL about instructions given to them. They show up prepared to engage with the program. Often their commitment to success and leadership shows in their self discipline (giving diligent attention), and their willingness to help others in the class.

When I see these people, I see my younger self in them and I smile.

This year, let’s pursue excellence (doing things with high quality) always!
